2006 Winner's Circle - Jaydee

It's hardly a surprise when Jaydee's name comes up as a winner in the Sims99 contests, because she seems to win people over with every project she does. Helena was no different, taking the top honor and winning "Best Movie of the Month" for May 2006.

Sims99: What was your reaction to finding out that your film was chosen above all of the others as ‘the best’ for that month?
Jaydee: Well, to be honest, I was half-expecting this as many people were congratulating me in advance even before the voting month ended.. But it doesn't mean I wasn't excited when I found out.. it's always an amazing feeling to know that your movie has made it :)

Sims99: Where did you draw inspiration from for this movie?
Jaydee: Partially from the original MCR video, as there was a funeral in the church, so it kinda got me thinking in that direction.. I thought it would be cool to make a wedding, and some scenes were 'borrowed' from one of my short stories and I was also inspired by some of the songs from 'Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge' album.

Sims99: What was the most difficult shot or moment in your winning movie?
Jaydee: Well, actually filming wasn't as hard as it might seem. The hardest part for me was everything that involved hacking and modding. I don't like getting into technical side of things that much and probably would've never even dare mess with all that stuff if I wasn't as stubborn as I am :)

Sims99: How long was production time on this movie from start to finish?
Jaydee: From February till May with lots of breaks

Sims99: What is your favorite scene in this movie?
Jaydee: I guess the one when Gerard says goodbye to Helena in the bedroom and probably the 'sunset' scene, although it got cut terribly in the final version.

Sims99: Do you have a funny production story about this movie?
Jaydee: I deleted all project files once when i uninstalled one of the EP's.......... I did have a backup on a CD that I made almost accidentally though.. but still it's a scary thought lol.. oh yeah it was supposed to be a funny one lol sorry can't recall anything at the moment

Sims99: Is there anything you would change about this movie, or were you 100% satisfied with the outcome?
Jaydee: If it was completely up to me, I would've made it at least 2 times longer, but I wanted to keep everything within a frame of the song, that's why the movie seems kinda 'rushed' in some parts.

Sims99: What future movie projects can we expect to see from you in 2007?
Jaydee: Well, it would depend on the circumstances...

Sims99: Do you have some advice for new filmmakers?
Jaydee: Always film in cameraman mode, use high quality custom content and learn to make your own, learn to hack camera files, shoot same thing from many angles, get a decent editing software, be inventive and friggin patient!

Sims99: What was your favorite movie(s) featured on sims99 in 2006?
Jaydee: I never have just one fave when it comes to movies.. so here's some I loved (in no particular order): Synthetic by Bkiddo, Home by Kilmore, Since I've Met You by Pyronium, A Mermaid's Tale by Britannica Dreams, The Diary of Andrea Marvelo by AllyClare

Sims99: Of your OWN movies, which is your favorite and why?
Jaydee: Obviously Helena :) I like how it's different from my other two, I put lots of work into it, even including stuff like making some of the cc parts/objects because I wanted everything to be MY way and I just like the drama and the intensity of it

Sims99: Of your OWN movies, is there one you dislike or would have done differently and why?
Jaydee: The one I like the least is probably Not Another NL Movie. I just don't really like the whole vibe of it.. I think it's too cute(in a bad way) and I just wish I went with some different idea instead, as it took me a bit more time than I had expected.. But.. good thing I've learned alot while making it and it was a good practice :)

Sims99: What do you like to see in a machinima movie?
Jaydee: Well-developed storyline, good direction and lots of attention to detail

Sims99: How did you get started making machinima?
Jaydee: I always was interested in movie making, especially making music videos. So when I got myself a new computer which could handle a bit more than 5 sims on a lot, I realized I could finally make a sim movie and so I made it :P

Sims99: Do you see machinima as having big-screen potential in the future?
Jaydee: Well, who knows.. Sure thing in few years games will look way more realistic than they do now and hopefully game manufacturers will keep movie makers on their minds when designing game engines, which will probably improve the quality of machinima films and better production quality should increase chances of machinima making it to the big screen...

Sims99: What are your other hobbies besides making machinima?
Jaydee: Lots of stuff :) But mainly music, playing guitar and keyboard, songwriting, photography, picture processing and digital art.

Sims99: Tell us something about yourself that's plausible, but untrue, and something that's unbelievable, but true.
Jaydee: I'm a whore and I kissed a sim once LOL
