---------

Forget flowers and Romeos. Love - is just a business. Like any other business - Love has its hierarchy. Cupid, The God of Love, is looking for a new set of Arrows to do his bidding. Now, the cards have been dealt, the Arrows have been chosen - and for Katerina, Aaron and Connor - it's time to meet their fates...
-----------
Finally - I've finished the pilot. Woot :). This was so much fun to make (and incredibly frustrating at points :P). Thank you to all my voice actors for doing such a fabulous job. You guys rock!

I've categorised it as a Drama but really its a drama/comedy/romance (of the slightly cynical type). Enjoy! Please leave your comments they are truly appreciated. And I am always on the lookout for constructive criticism, so if you have any suggestions, let me know!

I loved it. The voice actors were amazing and I really like how it all goes together really well. The comedy in the lines is amazing, which means the writing is incredible. Keep up the good work. This is one of the series that people are going to have to keep there eye on and one of the series that people are going to look up to. Awesome job. Can't wait to see more.

Truly amazing! Your editing was phenominal and the characters looks took my breathe away. You really have some good talent and it truly showed in this. Great work, also I must admit that I at first wasn't sure about the story line but once seeing it playing out before my eyes, it was really awesome! Great job! Keep up the wonderful work!

I already reviewed this, but I actually do have more praise to give it. Haha!

-ORIGINAL REVIEW-

Ah! :)

I'm so excited the pilot of this is finished! I can't wait to continue working on this project. I'm loving my character as well as all the others. I don't think I have a personal favorite. They all have their own personalities and all of my fellow voice actors do each part justice for sure!

I can't wait to get the next script! Excellent job! No flaws whatsoever though the music could've been turned down just a smidge. :)

5 stars for an EXCELLENT start!

-ADDITION-

Back to the music situation, it really wasn't bad. There were just some parts where the voices were slightly covered up a bit. For instance...when my character Aaron said '...that handsome old coot, Cupid.'...the word 'Cupid' was kind of lost. If you need me to ever redo any lines, then please feel free to ask! I know I can be quiet, I have that problem sometimes because my mic plays everything back so loud. lol.

I think your voice over picks were perfect. Everyone fit their characters spot on. Jared's character (Connor) was perfect for his voice, and Jeni just jumps right into any role you give her. Cupid, the waitress, everything down to the two dates were cast perfectly. Excellent job!

I love how this series is the perfect blend of comedy, drama, and romance. It's everything roled into one, and I think that's what makes it so special.

Just so you know...I've nominated this for the movie of the month. I can't wait for the next script!! You're an awesome director!

Waaaah....you got me addicted! I want to see another episode! Now!

What first really stands out in this series is the script (hey, you like PP..mr.Darcy); you REALLY have a great sense of humor.
The first scene already was hilarious, and when the ditched guy in the restaurant started crying I almost wet my pants! Every word coming out of the character's mouths is double, is not just 'a word' but is sarcastic and witty. With funny sentences filled with irony and punchlines you need some great voice-actors; they are indeed!
Use of music and the beginning credits were charming.
The custom content is fantastic and you really kept attention to the details of all characters; where maybe some other director would just let those sims do nothing while another sim is speaking, you cleverly used their reactions and everything in their appearances fell on it's place.
I love you're keeping something concealed for us (what happened to Abductees character? Did Jareds blond character have a tough childhood or something?); so I'll be expecting some more character development for next episodes.

The criticizing part; actually there is non! Maybe, since I've just seen Helena, I can say the effects aren't very flashy; but this is not an mtv clip, it's a comedy and it's very charms got me!
I think that old coot just hit me with his arrow!!

(PS If you still have parts open, like a 'comedy momtype' or something?)

I've been looking forward to this since I first read about it on your website, and the first episode did not disappoint. The premise is great. It reminds me of one of my favorite, cancelled tv shows, 'Dead Like Me.' The writing was funny as hell. I laughed all the way from the ex-boyfriend crying in the restaurant to Kat wondering if killing a co-worker was against the rules. I thoroughly enjoyed all the characters and I am looking forward to actually seeing them at work. Especially Aaron. He's probably the most symphathetic of all the characters so far (not that the others aren't equally entertaining). I wonder what killed him.

As for technical things, I loved the voice overs. Everyone's voice seemed a perfect fit. The sets were great. I don't know what else to say. I loved it all. Great work.

Finally! Wonderful work Serenity. This had the best story line, very interesting concept. A huge plus for me was the voice acting especially in the diner when the poor guy is like ' So that's it?' I could feel his pain.

Some settings high points was, first the wonderful shot of the fire in the beginning and you shot the scorned lover pouring the wine at a PERFECT angle. The diner in the end was great and you decorated their apartment enough to show that there will be full bedrooms eventually for the 'new' tenants.

This is a definite must see series

That was incredible! Totally drew me into the story. Very witty script. I smiled or laughed throughout the video.

The characters were really beautiful and great personality to match. Kat is one no nonesense bitchy alpha female! Aaron is such a lovable 'nobody'. I don't see much of his backstory, but I guess you'll reveal them later. And Connor, haha that jerk. I think he's my favorite character. He's even trying to pick up girls in death!

All your voiceovers were amazing. I think the one that especially stand out was the person who voiced Kat. I also love the grim reaper's voice. Very fitting.

Your sets were well done. Nice details. Though, one thing I noticed, Cupid's hands were going throught the table in one scene. Yeah I tend to notice things like that hehe!

Overall, great work!

What a great series opener? I believe, and I hope you will produce more. I have to admit the beginning was a bit confusing. It seemd as if cupid was talking to himself, but other than that the episode was well constructed. I like the whole concept of the people dying and being reincarnated to do cupids work. I hope that you will produce another very soon.

Oh man I just type all the review, hit submit and bam! I was not logged in. So here we go I'm going to do this again!

Very nice, you did a great job writting the script, the story is very original and unique. I love how you connect the grim reaper to a cupid.

All the characters are very well design, the look match their personality and voices. The voice actor also did an amazing job getting into the characters.

Camera movement and editting are flawless, you also did a perfect job picking their reaction, emotion on their face, and all the hands movement.

You also did a great job picking background music, my favorite is the one in cupid's office it actually match the scene very well. The music however are a little bit too loud. Personally I would make sure the viewer attention is on the dialogue and not the music. When I watch your serie my attention was on both so I thought I'd let you know.

The other small flaw I found was how the cupid's hand go through the table in his office. Not much you could do about that other then maybe get different angle where you can't see it.

Overall I give it 55, I enjoy this and looking forward to the next episode. Awesome job and keep it going!

Wow, I absolutely loved it.

Well the main thing that I truly appreciated in this movie was the storyline. It was so different and unique. Special and meaningful and at same time confusing (in a good way). And, the way that you portrayed the storyline was absolutely perfect.

I loved you opening scene. It was good to have a scene before the titles. Clever idea. I really loved how you had Cupid talking to someone...but who?
OMG!!! It's the Grim Reaper, Awesome job. Oh and loved the angelic titles.

The voice overs were so perfect, and the way you had the sims do different actions to each different type of dialogue (like sarcasm, sadness and anger) were correct to the decimal. Your characters were all great and you developed their personality perfectly. Oh and my two favourite lines where:
'It's not you it's me'
'I'm dead, screw you karma'
They were great, and added humour.

I loved how when Katerina was hit by the car, the blood crept out and her angel appeared. Awesome! One thing is the car just kind of strolled up to her and ohh...shes dead. Maybe you could've added a scream and a car horn or something, just to make it more dramatic. Oh and at 2.38, when they were talking you could just see a bit of thought bubble. But don't worry it wasn't there for more then a second.

Great CC!
I especially loved the hospital equipment and how the dead Aaron was all pale. the reflections on the tiles were also totally awesome. You tied it up nicely and left it with a 'cliff hanger' (by the way i was speaking in a hyperthetical tone...lol).

I'm looking forward to the next part and if there was a 6th star you would be there.

The opening credits were beautifully done, and although the pilot was just like any other pilot (introduction of settingcharacters) I have no doubt in my mind that this will become an engaging and memorable series.

The casting was also great. Leisa's voice suited the waitress perfectly, and it's good to hear more from Jeni who always seems to be playing the cynical girl. :P

Anyways, keep up the good work. :D

I have just watched Serenity's film, 'Chosen', and I would like to present my critique here.
The beginning scene was perfect. It started with the fireplace shot, then the clock shot as music gradually entered. I liked being into mystery at the beginning as the grim ripper was hidden and we could see only the first character talking with someone else. The voice overs used in the film were absolutely amazing. Well recorded, worked in detail, gave the impression of professional actors. Also, I liked the first scene's last shot. The general shot where the scene was ending up as the music was fading.
The titles' intro and animation were magnificent. Fitted exactly the music played and presenting very nicely the characters. One of the most wonderful title presentations I have ever seen. What is more, the cafe' scene was well-shot. I liked the low music played at the background and the wonderfully decorated sets. Also, I liked very much the fact that the song played was the intro's song. That gave an excellent coherence to the film's plot.
In addition, each scene had a perfect decoration but the items did not catch your attention and so you could watch the plot line. The accident's scene was incredibly magnificent. First of all, you did not show any cruel shots that might be scary and secondly you got away from the usual way. With the excellent transitions used, you managed to do something else that was wonderful.
By the time the woman gets out of her body, the music is heard, and the sudden appearance of the man occurs, we have just been guided into the plot. The hospital scene was well-shot and designed in detail. The buildings background was perfect. The way we were transfered from situation to situation, from each person's death to another was absolutely marvelous.
Generally, the shots used were steady and well-organized. As the second man's death scene was passing, we were terrified about the way he was going to die. By the time the woman starts serving the drinks, we suspect something. The transitions from the man's death to the woman's close-ups and reactions were professionally excellent. And as they suddenly pass to Cupid's office, we get into another dimension, in the middle of the plot.
The strong dialog at Cupid's office was pretty good. Due to the special effects, the overwhelming plot and characters' reactions, it did not get dull or tiring. By the time they start their new life, the plot is renewed and we are exactly suspended about what is going to happen. The scene where the man reads the rules is wonderfully realistic. It gives the impression of a real mission. Furthermore, as the woman goes at the back of the cafe' we start suspecting something as she seems to be too nervous. Does not she?
What is more, as the camera is rotated, we see the man and the conspiracy is revealed, giving us another plot element. Then, it stops at the perfect spot, and we cannot wait to see the next one. The credits were dropping just fine, well designed and organized as well.
Although, some unimportant shooting mistakes were noticed, nothing else seemed to be going bad with this incredibly perfect film. If I were you, I would pay more attention to the camera rotations by exercising on them a little bit more.
In conclusion, this might probably be the best film I have ever scene. I liked it so much because of its well-taken shots and in detail attention paid at each and every scene. Definitely one of my favorites as I cannot wait to see the next. Well done and keep up the amazing work!

Best Wishes,

I absolutely love how this starts. The conversation between the Grim Reaper and Cupid seems actually plausible due to the wonderful dialogue. It looks and sounds like any two old friendsaquaintances sitting and having tea, telling 'big' fish stories. The room is perfectly designed and decorated like your typical men's den. Excellent use of CC.
The opening credits are extremely well done. I love the drawings and the music. It's very professional.
All of your characters seem so real and well rounded. It's readily apparent that you put alot of thought into this project, all of it. But it is especially apparent in your plot and characters. This story is really creative. The concept so original! The characters interact so well that it's really hard to tell this is a machinima film and not a real high budget film. I have watched this several times and it just seems to get better and better every time.
I love how you introduce each character with a glimpse of their personality and then their death so that the story basically tells itself. I find myself wondering what happens in future episodes. I mean I desperately want to know what happens to them. That is a true mark of great characters, you care about them and enjoy seeing them go through the story. I could go on and on about what an awesome job you did with the creation of these characters! Nothing in this story seems contrived. At no point does it seem as if the story got out of your control.
All of your sets were wonderful. Rich and full without being too cluttered. Beautiful and functional and intriuging. And what attention to detail. The sets seem so real because of what is going on just to the edge of camera view. The 'extras' are all doing something, like real people would!
Your use of CC is incredible. Just enough to look real and unique but not too much. Being a CC junkie myself I know how hard it is to find just the right piece to make a scene look right and you found them all.
Your camera work was flawless. I loved your variety of shots and how the shots all made sense. You didn't just throw in a close-up or creative shot just to have one, when you did put one in it fit within the context of the scene it was included in.
I especially love Katerina's behavior in Connor's death scene. It's hysterical. Just the right mix of wry humor and sarcasm. And Aaron is so nice that it's sad that he's dead. And I just love Cupid he's so cool.
Like I said I could go on and on about this movie I love it that much.
To sum it all up I think you've hit on a winner here. I can't find anything that needs improvement other than the fact that I want to see more. Excellent job! Keep up the awesome good work!

You managed to capture and keep the audience attention from start to finish which means that you did an excellent job in writing the script.
Your voice actors and actresses were amazing. The sound were audible and clear.
The picture quality was crystal clear. The camera angles were on point.
I liked the sets especially Cupid's office. You showed that you took some time and care with everything and it has paid off.
Great job and I am looking forward to seeing the rest of this series!

Loved it. When it began, all I could think of was 'Dead Like Me', but you really put a cool twist on it with the Cupid's arrows.

Set were great. Voices were great.

What a fabulous start to the series Serenity!

You did a great job of establishing the different characters and the premise. You made all the different people diverse, lively, interesting and likable. I loved your idea...it was so fresh and funny, just like a sitcom! I really wish they made this sort of stuff more often on TV! The scriptwriting was top notch, very realistic and witty, and you employed some great voice actors.

Your custom content and editing were both great, no problems there.

5 stars, and cannot wait to see more!

I just realized that even though I've seen your series I didn't leave a review.

Well, I love your series. I thought the sets and the characters were awesome. The VO's were really good. I like the whole concept of your series, it's unique.

Again, sorry it took so long, I don't know what I was thinking. Let me go leave a review for the second ep.

Overall I liked your movie. I can see you put a lot of effort into it and a lot of thought. The camera angles were great it made the movie have a nice flow to it. I also loved the plot it was interesting and I couldn't wait to see what was coming next. It made me smile and laugh. I was really able to connect with the characters too. I thought the setting in the background was very appealing and a eye catching along with he characters costumes. The thing I did notice however was that in the scene with the grim reaper there is a painting of a woman and a clock and in the scene with Connor and his girlfriend the same painting and clock showed up. Other then that the scenery was great. The music also fit in nice with the themes that were going on. Great job you've made a movie many can enjoy keep up the good work and I can't wait to see what happens next. :)
