| Making it appear as though a sim is jumping off of something is quite easy and requires no technical knowledge or special programs.
- Place a sofa on the starting square or where your sim will begin the jump. Have the sim "Play" on the sofa. Pause the game.
- Using the "moveobjects on" cheat, move the couch out of the shot. It may take a couple of tries as the sim will occasionally automatically stop jumping or zoom over to where you placed the couch when you unpause the game. I found that keeping the couch as close as possible to the sim helps. Also, pausing the game while the sim is higher in the air may increase your chances of success.
- Unpause the game and film as much of the sim jumping in the air as possible.
- Repeat steps 1-3, moving the couch to location 2: on the square next to the starting location, so that the sim is hanging in mid air, on the edge of the building, balcony, or what ever the sim is jumping off of. I prefer starting over with the jumping as opposed to simply moving the sim so that I can get as much jumping footage possible in each location.
- Repeat steps 1-3, moving the couch to location 3: the square on which the sim will land. This square will probably be the square directly below location two.
* If your sim is jumping off of a three or higher story building you may want to add locations at each floor.
- When editing, choose the few seconds of jumping from each location that best match eachother and fade them together. I find that using slow motion with fairly long fades works best.
* To change the jump a little you could also use the diving board jump. Instead of moving a couch, however, you will need to move the sim from the diving board to the jump location.
